Yurt, Tipi, Gypsy Caravan, cottage and camping accommodation in the Suffolk countrysideRunning Duck Lodge Tipi
BRAND NEW COVER AND LINER THIS YEAR!
(COMBINATION HOLIDAY - eg 1 night in a tent + 1 night in the tipi - please enquire for prices) Our native American style tipi has a real atmosphere of adventure, but with more than a hint of coziness too. You'll feel right at home in the soft futon bed by the warmth of the woodburner, yet the tipi's majestic 24' pine poles reaching for the stars will transport you to another time and place. The cosy circular space within the tent is perfect for two, although we can add two more beds to allow up to a family of 4. Traditionally a tipi would have an open fire in the middle - ours has a handmade woodburner - with a 4' high flue helping the smoke towards the smoke flaps above. Around the central woodburner you'll find cowskin rugs and large cushions - perfect for lounging around with a nice glass of wine. The smoke flaps need to be repositioned depending on the weather to ensure the smoke leaves the tipi (and to make sure the rain doesn't come in!) - these are controlled by moving the two smoke flap poles outside the tipi. This aspect makes staying in a tipi a more 'hands-on' experience than some of our other accommodation options. Most guests find this an exciting part of the adventurous nature of staying in a tipi - but if you are unsure about this aspect please do give us a call and we will talk you through it. For cooking you could either embrace the outdoor life and cook over an open fire or BBQ in your own private outdoor space beside your tipi, or you could simply use the communal cooking facilities onsite. Wood for the fire is provided, and at night your tipi will be lit by solar fairy lights and tea light lanterns. Crow Lodge tipi was handmade in Wales.
