PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTIONS BELOW AND SEE THE PICTURES IF YOU HAVE A PREFERENCE FOR A PARTICULAR YURT PLEASE STATE BARN OWL YURT - 16' diameter - sleeps 2-4Barn Owl is a delicate yurt - handcrafted from specially chosen characterful wood. The many twists and bends in the wood give it a very romantic and magical feel. The yurt is fitted with a beautiful woodburner which has been handmade from almost entirely recycled materials. Solar fairy lights and tea light lanterns sparkle at night for a warm glow and a cosy feel. Perfect for couples - this yurt has a rustic 4-poster bed, washstand with jug & bowl, and lots of rugs for lounging about in front of the woodburning stove. Barn Owl yurt also has a small kitchen cupboard and a camping gas stove so you can cook or just make a cup of tea without having to leave the yurt, plus a small table and two stools. The raised deck which Barn Owl yurt sits upon is extended to form an outdoor seating area with rustic balustrade and two chairs handmade from reclaimed wood - the perfect spot to catch the early morning sun. In front of the yurt is a private grassed area with a BBQ. DRAGONFLY YURT - 16' diameter - sleeps 2-5Dragonfly yurt was built with families in mind so has a much more sturdy feel and is more spacious. Built on site (by us!) entirely from locally coppiced ash & hazel it still has the rustic feel of the other yurt but is less delicate. Dragonfly has a double futon bed with an extra deep futon mattress and we can provide other beds as required for family members or friends. The yurt is fitted with a beautiful woodburner which has been handmade from almost entirely recycled materials. Solar fairy lights and tea light lanterns sparkle at night for a warm glow and a cosy feel. This yurt has a large table with seating for 4. Under Dragonfly yurt's crown hangs an ornamental centrepiece fitted with coloured glass - sprinkling the yurt with colour as the sun moves across it. The yurt's private seating area, with adult & children's benches and a BBQ, is perfectly placed to catch the afternoon sun. IF YOU HAVE A PREFERENCE FOR A PARTICULAR YURT (see descriptions above and pictures on the right) PLEASE STATE THIS ON YOUR BOOKING FORM Many thanks to Toby Fairlove (www.tfairloveyurts.co.uk) – a superb yurt maker who taught us how to make our yurts using traditional handtools.
Frequently asked questions: What is the garden like? - All set within a mature wildlife garden of just an acre, Alde Garden is a warm, friendly - yet small and tranquil - site with a communal feel. We have no electricity at all in the garden, and we try to encourage an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, particularly after 10pm. Those looking for a really quiet retreat or romantic break should avoid school holidays and weekends. What time is check-in/check-out? - Check-in time is 2pm, check-out 10am. Later check-ins/check-outs can sometimes be arranged by prior arrangement. Is Alde Garden suitable for children? - Whilst we do encourage families we ask that parents maintain a suitable level of supervision at all times. Please consider carefully before booking - see our 'terms & conditions' on the 'booking & contact' page for more details. The garden is not suitable for lively/ball games. Our pond is unfenced. Are pets allowed? - Sorry - no pets How about groups? - To maintain the communal atmosphere in the garden, we prefer to keep group sizes to a minimum. Therefore 2 families or 6 adults without children is our maximum. What's included? - Basket of wood (subsequent baskets can be purchased on site), tea lights, bedding (3+ nights), complimentary bottle of wine (5+ nights). Use of all facilities including fully fitted field kitchen (aka 'the shelter'), bikes, pizza oven, communal campfire etc etc (see the 'facilities' page for more details). How do I book? - Follow instructions on the 'booking & contact' page.
